December 26, 2016, Week 13!

It's crazy that in about one week, I'll have been on a mission for 3 months. Time flies sometimes.  I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! I know I did. Talking to family was great, having Pizza Hut was great, and getting out and spreading the gospel with those who needed it was perfect. Christmas is different on a mission, but in ways, it's better. I think I focused more on the Savior and on others than I did in the past. I'll tell you a bit about Christmas here. We couldn't sleep on Christmas Eve. From about 11:30 to 12:30, there are more fireworks outside than I've EVER heard on the 4th of July. And they were close to our apartment too. I think we heard them louder because we were closer to the explosions (being on the 5th floor of an apartment complex). It was crazy, Gladly they calmed down at about 1:00, which is when I started to fall asleep. I opened some presents that my parents sent me, and which we put under a home-made "christmas t...

December 19, 2016 Week 12! Christmas Week!

First off, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas this Sunday! I can't wait! It's a great time to think of the Savior and all He has done for us! We had a baptism this week! That was definitely the highlight. I performed the ordinance, and we had 3 other elders helping us (The other missionaries of our ward, Elder Chahuara and Elder Paz) so there were 4 missionaries in the font in total. The baptism took all day to prepare. We got the keys for the church and the baptismal font in the morning, then cleaned the font, then filled it with water, then had to turn on the heater to heat up the water. We hoped it would all go well, since Hermana Jessica is tall, and we hoped there would be sufficient water for the baptism. We came back later (a little late since lunch took a while), and a couple people were there. We checked, and the water had gone up to 38 degrees celcius, and we set it at 40, so it was close enough. It was hot, but that's what we needed! When the time came, w...

December 5, 2016 - Week 3 in Peru!

This week has been great. We got our hot water back! It only stops working for some minutes if ever. We have been realy blessed here to have hot water! On monday right after emailing, we were crossing the highway (La Marina is the name) and I dropped my waterbottle, as cars were coming. I had the split second decision to grab or not grab it, and i grabbed it, and didn't get hit. I guess it was kinda close-ish though. After, my companion said something like "You want to die?" Haha I can't have any more close calls with traffic. It's crazy here.  We had a couple more cockroaches, but then we think we found the source. There were 3 in my companion's chest of drawers! We killed them all, and haven't had any more. So they could've all been from there! Those annoying cucarachas haha. Before we found the 3, one of them fell from the ceiling and hit my arm this week, and freaked me out. Now I always search the ceiling when we get into our apartment. ...
