May 21, 2018 – Week 86!

Well this week has been a crazy week! I've been transfered to a new sector. Now I'm in Ingenieria, Rimac. I'm with Elder Torres from Arequipa.  This week we've found some people who are really prepared to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. It's true, there is a difference in the people here in Rimac. They are so accepting, and even if they reject us, they do it in a nice way! I'm in the sector that doesn't have any stairs or hills, so I'll be walking on flat ground, but it's still a sector full of great people! The members here are awesome too. I was able to give a talk this weekend. I gave it on how the Restoration has restored principles and ordinances of the Gospel such as Faith, Repentance, Baptism, and the reception of the Holy Ghost. I liked talking about that. It strengthened my testimony of the Restoration of the gospel, and I know now with even more of a surety that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God, who was able to work as a funda...

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Especially to my mom! :) This week has been pretty good. Even though there hasn't been a ton of progress in the sector because not many people have been accepting baptismal dates like we'd like. We always invite them, but they've also got their agency. Hopefully we can keep teaching and sharing our testimonies so that they feel even more willing to accept a baptismal invitation! We've gotta always remember to invite to repentance as well. Inviting to repentance prepares people for the baptismal invitation too! Yesterday talking with families was great. Kinda crazy that it's already the last Skype call! I was able to learn a lot from my family, and it helped me be even more excited to keep working here as hard as I can! My companion also has a great family, and their words helped us both! --- Church attendance dropped a bit because of Mother's Day. We invited many, but few came because all the rest were l...

Good week this week!  We've still been working with Milagros, and she's still progressing and reading her Book of Mormon! I can't wait because soon she'll be receiving the blessings of the gospel in her life. Hopefully there aren't too many obstacles. She wasn't able to come to church on Sunday, but she still wants to come. She's been praying to receive her answer, or a more firm answer about the things she's been able to learn. I know that the Spirit will help her feel that the gospel is true, even if it's in the Lord's time, it'll come to her! Th young women are her friends, which is great! Having a friend in the church is the best way to help someone understand more about the gospel and feel comfortable too! I repeat it a lot because it's true! We also have been able to go out teaching with one of our recent converts this week too! Brando. He's come with us toa few appointments with Milagros, and he also presented to us hi...

Ooy week 83 how crazy. This week has been pretty good! On Saturday we had electricity cut from the morning until about 8pm, so when it got dark, we started contacting with a flashlight and saying that we would bring the light of Christ into their homes if they would accept a visit. It was a cool way to make use of a hard situation! Then we had to leave our sector and go to another sector with light until the light in our sector came back on. Gladly the light came back in 30 minutes because we had to rush to an appointment that night! We also had intercambios with the Zone Leaders this week. I was able to learn a lot from Elder Mortenson about how to invite investigators to baptism more casually! He's a good teacher. He teaches in a fun way too. during the intercambios we were able to give a few blessings to members as well. Blessings of comfort and strength, and of health. It really is great to know the God has given his Pristhood power to man so that we can receive blessi...

First off, yesterday we printed our Family History fan charts, and I realized that I have 2 married relatives named George Washington and America... Yes. George Washington got married to America... :P This week was full as well! Sadly some of the 9 investigators with baptismal dates haven't been able to be found... We have been passing by every day but they haven't been home, so many of their dates were postponed and we'll have to invite them again. I hope we can find them because there are some really prepared families that just haven't had a lot of time this past week. This week we were able to find yet another family together to teach! It really is so great to have a whole family together to teach. The spirit is strong when all are listening and willing to participate! The dad's name is Cristofer and the Mom's name is Esther, and we also taught some of Cristofer's kids. It was a great lesson about the Restoration! Even the young 10 year old and 9...
