May 29, 2017 – Week 35! – Baptism!

Image
BAPTISM! We had a baptism this week! We were able to baptize Alberto. He is doing great, and was happy about the whole event. His friend was able to come, and even though we had to change church buildings for the baptism (because ours didn't have water), we were able to have a few people from our ward come as well! I was the one to confirm him in the sacrament meeting on Sunday. It was my first time performing a confirmation, but it was good!  This week I used my blender a lot. Yes, I bought a mini blender. It is so nice to make little fruit juices or smoothies! I tried a new fruit called Aguaymanto, and made a juice with it too! It's like the size of a grape but yellow. It has an interesting flavor, but it's good! Kind of acidic. This week was kind of difficult, because we had to end teaching some of our investigators that seemed really cool and interested. It's better though for now not to make contention in any family, so we'll just wait a little time an...

May 22, 2017 – Week 34! 1/3rd Done!

Wow. This week is exactly one third of my mission. HOW CRAZY! This week was pretty great. We had 4 new investigators, and 4 that came to church as well! We hope that the new investigators we found will be able to progress! The baptism of our investigator was postponed for some extra preparation, but we're still working lots with him! I know the spirit has brought miracles in his life, and that he's gonna keep preparing for baptism! This week I finally tasted Kui for the first time! The meat was really good, but the skin was a bit difficult for me to eat. I tried but just couldn’t eat the rubbery skin. The meat was great though. Small portion but good tasting! It was like a mix taste of beef, chicken, and fish. idk how to explain it. its a game meat taste. We've been in contact with an investigator of ours named Grecia. She's really interested and I feel like she'll be able to progress lots in the gospel. The issue with teaching is time. She has lots...

Hope everyone had a great week this week! I hope the moms had a great Mother's Day as well! This week has been pretty great. Ended great because I was able to talk with my family on a huge TV screen for Mother's Day Skype! One time this week we went to take our laundry to Hna Yolanda, and in the morning she gave us a drink which consisted of Quaker Oats, Carrots, Nuts, and Castañuelas (idk what that is yet. ive gotta translate it) but it was all blended up. They usually have oatmeal here as a drink, not mushy like a cereal haha. I like it as a drink! The blend she made was great, healthy, and sweet tasting too. Love it! She always cares for our health. Also a cool drink is a flavor mix of Orange and Ahuemanto. Some berry from Peru. The flavor was familiar but idk what i had before in my life that was the same. Interesting! Early this week we ended up working on getting Skype ready for about 2 hours because of all the computer problems, but I'm glad we got i...

This week has been great! We had our ACTUAL transfers this week, and now I´m with an Elder from Huancayo Peru. Elder Carbajal. He´s cool! It´ll be great working with him for this transfer. He only has this transfer and one more left in the mission. Planning this week in the mornings has taken a bit longer than it should because this sector is big and difficult to memorize, and Elder Sanhueza tried to leave behind lots of his contacts that he made, but couldn’t leave them all. We´re learning the sector more and more together, me and Elder Carbajal!  This week we had some great lessons. One of them was with Alberto. He´s an investigator that was int he army for 8 years, and his actions and thoughts sure show it. He´s awesome. He really wants to be sure about his baptism before he says a definite "yes" or " no". BUT. This Sunday. Elder Godoy came to our ward. This ward in Las Brisas is where he had attended before being a 70, and his testimony this past Sunday...

May 1, 2017 – Week 31!

This week was interesting, but cool!  The start of the week was pretty normal. We had lessons, and we contacted people like we do every day. On wednesday we had our district meeting, then stopped by Dunkin' Donuts because I had some extra money to spend this transfer (we got 4 donuts for 10 soles. Good deal!), and then went to lunch. That day was strange because for the first time, I ate faster than everyone else at lunch, and had 2 plates of food! we ate Picante de Carne, and it was just too good to only have one plate. That is one of my favorite dishes.        Later that day as we were working, we got a call from the secretaries, but we were in a lesson so we called back. Then after the lesson, the zone leaders called, and told us we had an Emergency Transfer. These happen for various reasons, not just because of an emergency. Could be personal things, or mission reasons, etc. So I had to quickly go home, and get clothes packed for one week, and the...
