Elder Bruner performs at the ward Christmas dinner! Hilarious!

January 23, 2017 - Week 17!

This week was awesome. I don't have my journal with me like normal, so I may miss some stuff that I'll have to write next week. Last P day, we played soccer on artificial grass, which was awesome. However, even more awesome was today's activity. We (Our zone) hiked up a cerro in Rimac. Elder de Arce explained that a cerro is like a mountain, but not as big. It definitely seemed close though. (If I can't get pics sent today, they'll be there to see next week) The whole hike up and down took about 3-4 hours. The view was absolutely AMAZING. We could see tons of Lima (when the clouds weren't there) and even the ocean. We were pretty high up! Lima is like Salt Lake City, but I can easily say that SLC has nothing on the size of Lima. You could drive 2 hours and still be in deep city here. It's crazy and I love it. We also saw a shirt made into a flag at the top of the hike, where missionaries before wrote their names and cities. It was awesome. We all added ...

Week 16! Baptism!

Image
This week we baptized Hna. Eugenia! Elder de Arce performed the ordinance. She was a abit nervous about the baptism in the days before, but we helped her feel better, and also some members sent some encouraging messages to help her out! It was a little nervewracking during the baptism, since she lost footing and opened her mouth (Apparently she said it was because she saw me and started to laugh or something like that. Not exactly sure, I didn't understand the sentence in Spanish too much.) All was well after though! Hna Koo helped her, and then Hna Eugenia bore her testimony. Short and sweet. Glad we can help her with her desires to follow Christ! On Tuesday we walked... A lot. "Pioneer children sang as they walked, and walked, and walked, and walked, and walked, and...." you get the point. It was a companion exchange for one day with Elder Williams. I lead him around our area this time. We walked all day and had one lesson at the very end after trying contacting 18...

January 9, 2017 - Week 15!

This week has been great as always! Not too much happened, but I've felt the spirit every day, and I just love it! Last p-day after emailing, we had a miracle for lunch. We went to Papa John's for pizza, and normally, one large pizza with some drinks and other things included is 40 soles. Well, we got there, and a member was working. Returned missionary too. He had only been back for about a year. We asked about the deal that we had seen, and he made us a special missionary offer. We got 4 pizzas (any pizza, specialty or not, didn't matter) for a total of 54 SOLES, which is like $15! Crazy good deal. We each got a pizza to ourselves (8 slices). We were lead by the spirit to go there for lunch... haha. Idk if that was the spirit or just luck that time. Either way, awesome!       ---   We also disinfected our bathroom last p-day, because it was starting to get dirty again. Clorox on the floor and shower and everywhere, and just mopped everything. We don't have a m...

January 2, 2016 - Happy New Year!

Image
I can't believe that this week will mark 3 months in the mission! Time seems to go faster in the mission field for sure. New Year's was crazy. More fireworks for a solid 15 minutes starting at midnight than on Christmas, I've been a bit sick with congestion this past week, so it was easier to just forget about the fireworks and fall asleep after getting used to them for like 5 minutes. This week we did lots of contacting. We had some lessons, but the majority of the time was walking around talking to people. It's sometimes a bit hard to just start talking, but once you start, it's a lot easier. We also are trying to contact more families as a mission, especially during this season of Christmas and New Years. We had transfers this past week, and some new elders came into our Zone! I didn't get transfered, so I'm still in the same sector with Elder de Arce. It's normal to be with the same companion in the same area for 2 transfers. One of the ...
