Time passes so fast in the mission, and it's at the point where I want it to pass a lot slower, because the work of the Lord is awesome and I don't want it to ever end! I hope you all had a great Halloween! Here in Peru, the young kids dress up and go store to store (because there are stores in almost every block. One or more) asking for treats. As we were in the cerro, some kids came up the stairs and gave us candies and said "perdónenos señores, perdónenos" (forgive us, forgive us) and we laughed and said that they dont need to do that. But they insisted that we had some candies, so we took a couple and said they were forgiven haha. Cute little kids. On Halloween, I felt an earthquake for the fist time in my life! It was crazy. We were in our house, and at 10:45 at night, we heard and felt the room shaking a little bit, and suddenly there was a little "boom" and the whole room jerked to the left. I got scared obviously, but my companion had felt o...

October 30, 2017 – Week 57!

This week has been great! We had a couple family home evenings this week where we watched Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration. I always get extremely close to crying at the end of that movie. The more I watch it, the more it affects me. I don't know why. Maybe it's just because of the reality of all of the events. It was a huge sacrifice Jospeh Smith made so that the work of God could progress. He was a great Prophet. We passed by a restaurant to get chicken and hamburgers like 3 times this week, and we ended up contacting the lady who worked there, and she was interested in the church! We even gave her a Book of Mormon! She was invited with her daughter to the stake conference we had yesterday, but she sadly wasn't able to make it. She still was interested in having the misisonaries visit her, so it'll be fun to see how she progresses as we go frequently to eat at her restaurant! That just shows that really any situation, even eating at a little resta...

CERRO CERRO CERRO! I love the cerro! I was transfered this week, and I was moved from Magdalena to Valdivieso, Condevilla. It's a great place, but our sector is literally half of a mountain. We climb up and go down over 1000 stairs a day easy. I'll have some nice muscular legs after this sector haha. I've always wanted a sector like this though, so it'll be awesome! My new companion is Elder Barrios. He's from Santa Cruz, Bolivia! He's awesome! We get along really well! He knows the cerro from front to back, so I'll be learning lots from him in the next few weeks so I can memorize the sector! We don't have a map here, because Google Maps doesn't map the staircases, only the streets down below the cerro. There's a little drawn map that Elder Barrios made, so I'll be using that to learn the names of the different parts of our sector. On Tuesday we had a great family home evening! There were a couple of our investigators who attende...

October 16, 2017 – Week 55!

Good week this week! I don't have tons to write, but I'll fill in the email as much as I can! This week my companion turned 19! We kinda forgot to celebrate, but we ended up buying some chicken (like always) to make it a good day!  You know soccer is a big event here when the missionaries have to go inside their houses during the game. On Tuesday Peru was playing at 6:30, so we entered in our houses at 7. It just gets dangerous outside and the tempatation to watch the game would be strong, so President decided we should just be at home studying. We left earlier that morning to do proselyting so we could make up for the time in the night. I was able to study pretty well, but when Peru made a goal, wow the ENTIRE COUNTRY was screaming... Haha it was pretty cool to hear actually. I wish there was this much hype in the USA with soccer. This week we've been able to visit Leo more. He's an investigator who's progressing and preparing for baptism! He accepted ...
