November 6, 2017 – Week, idk anymore, 58!
Time passes so fast in the mission, and it's at the point where I want it to pass a lot slower, because the work of the Lord is awesome and I don't want it to ever end!
I hope you all had a great Halloween! Here in Peru, the young kids dress up and go store to store (because there are stores in almost every block. One or more) asking for treats. As we were in the cerro, some kids came up the stairs and gave us candies and said "perdónenos señores, perdónenos" (forgive us, forgive us) and we laughed and said that they dont need to do that. But they insisted that we had some candies, so we took a couple and said they were forgiven haha. Cute little kids.
On Halloween, I felt an earthquake for the fist time in my life! It was crazy. We were in our house, and at 10:45 at night, we heard and felt the room shaking a little bit, and suddenly there was a little "boom" and the whole room jerked to the left. I got scared obviously, but my companion had felt one before here, so he was calmer. Well, now I can say I've felt an earthquake! The dogs always bark crazily after one happens. Just shows that we should always be prepared, because we never know what could happen to us, physically or spiritually! The preparation in something we should learn as a gospel topic as well as a physical one. Doing simple things like reading scriptures, going to church, and praying are ways we can prepare ourselves spiritually!
We have been following up with Elvis and Oliver, and they both have baptismal dates for this Saturday! It'll be great because this Saturday we'll be having 3 baptisms! them and another whose name is Nataly. It'll be a really great experience!
We had another family home evening with the Vara family this past week, and we broke yet again our record of people in attendance. There were 24 this time! Investigators and members! It was great! We talked about every single one of the commandments, including the 10 commandments, Word of wisdom, Law of chastity, etc. We heard afterwards that one person stopped drinking from that night on because he heard that it was a sin! It'd be cool if we could visit him this week and start teaching him! You never know when someone is listening as you talk about the gospel, so do it often! As members, we can help so many people with the knowledge we have of the gospel and of the plan of God!
I also had intercambios with Elder Chininin this week, and they went well! I was able to visit their sector and their investigators. It's cool getting to know other investigators as well! As a district we are doing great, and we should all be having some baptisms this transfer, or at the start of the next transfer!
This saturday, we passed by tons of houses to invite lots of people to church on sunday. It was a good idea, because on Sunday, 5 investigators came to church! We even helped one shut their store for a couple hours so they could come! We had even more come to church a little later, but these 5 who came on time are all preparing for baptism! It's great to see so many come to church and enjoy it as well! Even though I had a headache that day, it was fine because it was a great day! Ibuprofen and water do help. Lots. haha
This week will be great as well! The gospel makes every week a great one really. :)
