February 13, 2017 – Week 20!
This week has been awesome, and a little difficult, but more awesome!
The difficult part was that we had transfers, and Elder de Arce left. My trainer left me... That was kinda sad. I didn't think it'd be so hard, but we were pretty close as companions! The good news is... my new companion is great too! Elder Trujillo is my new companion, also from Argentina (Santa Cruz), and he's 24 years old. He likes drawing as well, and also plays the guitar! Although he forgot a bit since he's been in the mission for 15 months, it sounds like he's pretty good!
Leading around this week has been a little difficult, but it's great preparation for the future if I have to train a new missionary or lead another missionary around as a senior companion! It's gotten easier each day.
Now the awesome parts.
We had a baptism this past Saturday! We baptized hermana Mayra, and her testimony she gave afterwards was great. I feel she'll be a faithful member of the ward, and a great example for her parents, who aren't members of the church. It's awesome to see how she's progressed, and kept on progressing even though she's the only one in her family who's interested in the gospel!
If all goes well, we should have another baptism this Sunday, and one more before the end of February, and a few in March! The other elders in the sector San Miguel 2 have lots of baptisms coming up too. I think in less than 6 months we'll have more baptisms in the San Miguel ward than they've had in the past year! I really hope that happens.
Last Friday we were knocking doors, and we passed by one door that had a window, and we could see a dad watching TV with one of his kids. We passed by it, and knocked one other door, and I felt like we should return to knock the first door. We went back, and after knocking the door, we talked to the dad for a few minutes (His name is Danny). He was awesome! He was like the perfect investigator. When we asked about his beliefs, he even said that he wondered why the catholic church had changed baptism, because it wasn't the same as how Jesus was baptized, and he thought that people should be baptized "at like 8 or 10 years of age". We explained a little bit about the Restoration, then we invited him to be baptized, and he accepted! His wife is catholic, but he said he's still interested in learning more about our church! The most exciting part was that he came to church yesterday! He only could stay for one hour, but he said afterwards that he really liked the first talk that was given about the family. The talks that day were perfect for someone who was visiting the church for the first time. I really hope he continues to progress. He seems really awesome.
I know that we've been blessed by the spirit this week, and I've definitely felt the guidance of the spirit every day. I know that as we pray, we can receive many blessings. Always continue to read the scriptures and apply them to your lives!
I hope you all have a great week this week! (And a great Valentine's Day!)
