May 15, 2017 – Week 33!
Hope everyone had a great week this week! I hope the moms had a great Mother's Day as well!
This week has been pretty great. Ended great because I was able to talk with my family on a huge TV screen for Mother's Day Skype!
One time this week we went to take our laundry to Hna Yolanda, and in the morning she gave us a drink which consisted of Quaker Oats, Carrots, Nuts, and Castañuelas (idk what that is yet. ive gotta translate it) but it was all blended up. They usually have oatmeal here as a drink, not mushy like a cereal haha. I like it as a drink! The blend she made was great, healthy, and sweet tasting too. Love it! She always cares for our health.
Also a cool drink is a flavor mix of Orange and Ahuemanto. Some berry from Peru. The flavor was familiar but idk what i had before in my life that was the same. Interesting!
Early this week we ended up working on getting Skype ready for about 2 hours because of all the computer problems, but I'm glad we got it all fixed and ready before sunday came!
This week we had a couple new investigators. One of them was another student that Hno. Coloma was teaching, and he was there when we had the lesson with Cristel. He had some good questions, and I hope we can teach him more!
Another new investigator was Lizzet. The Sister missionaries found her, and sang her a song, and then she accepted a visit! She lives in our sector, so we called her that same day and visited her. She was awesome. She had passed through some difficult times recently in her life and wanted to change and feel happier. She accepted to come to church and everything, and accepted a return visit, but sadly a couple members of her family aren't as happy about our visits, so it'll be a bit hard for now. I know she has a testimony that grew from our small visit, and that it will help her have the desire to lean more, even if it takes a bit of time!
We also have been teaching Alberto like crazy this week. Every lesson is like an hour long. He's really preparing for baptism, and has become more and more excited every time we go and visit him! He's awesome, and really has a strong testimony of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! He's been coming to every weekly activity, including soccer with the elders quorum and even the mothers day activity which we had this week as a ward! He was helping out with preparing food and everything! He's what some missionaries call a Dry Member (Member that hasn't been baptized yet haha). BUT Hno. Alberto accepted baptism for this Saturday, so if everything goes well, which I know it will with the guidance from the Spirit, he'll be baptized this Saturday!
Speaking of the Mother's Day Activity this week. The ward had a big dance for the moms and their families. We came, and I wanted to dance so bad, because the people here have good music and know how to party, but I'll have to wait until after the mission ;) There weren't tons of people there, but as the time went on, the party got better! The music was SO LOUD there haha. Sadly the cool popular music group that Hno. Coloma was teaching couldn't come, but the DJ ended up playing some of their music anyway, which was cool! (It'd be awesome if I get the chance to meet those singers!)
We had interviews with President this week, and it was cool to hear that in the past, he went to Joe Morley's BBQ as a college student with his friends! Shoutout to them!
Sunday was Skype day, after church of course. It was awesome talking with the family. After skyping, we just contacted some people in the streets because either Skype or the day in general tired us out. We passed by some houses, but not many people were answering their doors because of festivities. This week we will be working hard to have lots of new investigators! As the missionaries say, "Vamos a contactar como cancha" haha
I hope you all have a great week this week!
