May 8, 2017 – Week 32!

This week has been great! We had our ACTUAL transfers this week, and now I´m with an Elder from Huancayo Peru. Elder Carbajal. He´s cool! It´ll be great working with him for this transfer. He only has this transfer and one more left in the mission.

Planning this week in the mornings has taken a bit longer than it should because this sector is big and difficult to memorize, and Elder Sanhueza tried to leave behind lots of his contacts that he made, but couldn’t leave them all. We´re learning the sector more and more together, me and Elder Carbajal!

This week we had some great lessons. One of them was with Alberto. He´s an investigator that was int he army for 8 years, and his actions and thoughts sure show it. He´s awesome. He really wants to be sure about his baptism before he says a definite "yes" or " no". BUT. This Sunday. Elder Godoy came to our ward. This ward in Las Brisas is where he had attended before being a 70, and his testimony this past Sunday really helped Alberto! I talked to Elder Godoy a little after, and it´s cool to hear that he´s called to serve in the Salt Lake area, and wanted to live in Sandy, but ended up living somewhere else.

Elder Uceda who now is int he presidency of the 70 is also from the ward im serving in now. Las Brisas. His son is the bishop of our ward right now. Pretty cool to hear that this ward has raised 2 members of the 70!

This week I tried to like Kimbo, which is a drink like Ecco. Tastes like coffee but it isn’t coffee, because we can´t drink coffee obviously haha. I still can´t seem to like it. Hna Yolanda served it to us with milk today though for a little breakfast when we passed by her house to get our clothes, and ecco eith milk really is good! Tastes almost like hot chocolate, but a little different i do like it with milk. Water no. Speaking of good food. Locro is pretty good too.

This week was also awesome because as we were walking in the streets, a sister contacted us, and starting asking about Elder Sanhueza and also about the mission, and saying she hadn’t been able to come for the last 2 weeks, etc. and about the holy ghost helping us in our work. Seemed like a member. We then asked if we could do service for her, and she said yes, so tomorrow we´ll be doing some service for her. We asked for her name to see if we had her number, and to our surprise, the phone said "antiguo" which means an investigator taught a long time ago. Then we asked if she was a member, and she said “I’m what the missionaries call an investigator", and then we started asking questions about family and more. She isn’t baptized yet, but has known the missionaries for 2 years! I hope we can plant another little seed when we do service, and hopefully help her out with her desires to get baptized! Such a  great contact. It´s awesome how the spirit really places people in your path.

You always gotta know the right places to go here. I recently found out that a brand of contact paper i bought to cover my planner was a copied version of the real brand. I´m learning to keep a look out for small differences in look now. It´s also great to have a Peruvian companion who knows!

This week has been great, and even though we haven´t had many new investigators or contacts, we´ve set goals to do better this week, and I know we can do better! The spirit really helps us out with that, as long as we ask in prayer.

I know we all can receive the guidance of the spirit if we ask for it and as long as we´re worthy of it too. Always do what is right and you have the promise from God that you will receive blessings!

Hope you all have had a great week!

Con mucho amor,
Elder Bruner
