May 21, 2018 – Week 86!
Well this week has been a crazy week! I've been transfered to a new sector. Now I'm in Ingenieria, Rimac. I'm with Elder Torres from Arequipa.
This week we've found some people who are really prepared to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. It's true, there is a difference in the people here in Rimac. They are so accepting, and even if they reject us, they do it in a nice way! I'm in the sector that doesn't have any stairs or hills, so I'll be walking on flat ground, but it's still a sector full of great people! The members here are awesome too. I was able to give a talk this weekend. I gave it on how the Restoration has restored principles and ordinances of the Gospel such as Faith, Repentance, Baptism, and the reception of the Holy Ghost. I liked talking about that. It strengthened my testimony of the Restoration of the gospel, and I know now with even more of a surety that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God, who was able to work as a fundamental part of God's plan to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all of us in these days.
This week we've had some pretty crazy experiences while in our room. There was an earthquake that lasted 10+ seconds that woke us up at 6am, and some gangsters below for a couple nights, BUT we've been protected throughout all of these experiences. I know that God pretects us, especially when we are working to help His children here on earth. I know and have faith that I will always be protected as long as I work with all my strength and am obedient to the commandments of God!
This week we're preparing an investigator for baptism as well. His name is Hugo. He is really prepared! He didn't have a lot of time last week, and wasn't able to go to his baptismal interview on time, and we had to help with a bit of preparation, but this week is planned for his baptism! It'll be great helping someone receive this ordinance and helping him to keep enduring until the end! I know that Gos blesses us as we progress always in the gospel, and as we take upon ourselves the name of Christ with a desire to follow Him until the end!
I've also been called as district leader again this transfer. I'll be serving as the Lord did! From the assignment, I haven't had a ton of time in the sector for meetings and because of a baptismal interview I had to conduct, but I know that I've just gotta work hard with my companion, and the time we have will be sufficient to help those in need!
One little cool experience. We knocked the door of a couple older people, and they allowed us to come into their house to offer a prayer. We went in and prayed, and they were glad that we could bless their home with a prayer. They were Catholics, and even though we weren't able to share much before they retired to bed, they accepted us with a smile and said they felt in their hearts and they saw in our eyes that we were sincere and they felt theyu should let us in to bless their home. Maybe that was a seed enough. They said another day we cold return to share more, and I can't wait until we return! They were very nice (mother of about 75 years old and son of about 55). I love when people are willing to accept us so kindly. Not for us, but because it means they are accepting Christ so kindly and willingly in their lives too. Those experiences leave me smiling :)
Well, that's my week! This next week will be even better!
Hope you all have a great week! Thanks for the emails!
