November 10, 2016 - 4 More Days Until Peru!

I can't believe I leave for Peru in only 4 days! It's been great here at the CCM, and I've made so many friends with people in our district and others as well.

Doritos here taste like the old guacamole pringles i loved, which brought back memories of the first time trying them, so thats cool.

Cool stories of the week:
Our teacher had asked how we were feeling after this time, and he said we didn't look too excited, so he took us out into the trees and just had us ponder for a moment and give a prayer of thanks to God, because we had progressed so much and our teacher could already see a change in us. After we prayed, the sun came out, and some of us (including me) thought that it was just like the first vision, and God was watching over us. It was a really spiritual moment and day for a lot of us.

My companion Elder Leifson lost a ring a couple days ago that was really important to him, and we had prayed that night asking for a miracle to find it. This is the largest MTC in the world area wise, so trying to find a ring here is like a needle in a haystack. He lost it while it was raining too, so we were scared it went down a drain. The next day, he decided to tell someone else that he lost it, and and Elder in our district overheard and said the ring was in reception lost and found. He said they found it that night in reception while we were getting our flight plans, and they thought it looked like Elder Leifson's, so they gave it to reception and it had been there the whole time. Miracles are real. God is watching out for us. I know that to be true.

I also hadn't been feeling good this week because my stomache had been aching for a while, so I prayed and fasted, and this week, I've been feeling better and better each day, and now I'm practically all well. It's great to see all these miracles.

This past Sunday was fast Sunday, and I didn't realize that they don't serve dinner on Saturday night unless you let them know you can't fast and make special arrangements. It was the first time in a long time that I fasted a full two meals, but it was great. I needed it! So many great things have happened this week, and fasting definitely helped that.

I've been reading my patriarchal blessing, and it is so cool to see how things have already started happening that are in there because I've come on my mission. I can't wait to see how it all will work out in the end.

I can't say enough about how great the devotionals are here. I'm going to miss sundays and tuesdays in the mission when we can't hear devotionals. This past week we heard from another Area 70, and it is always cool to hear their stories and power when talking. His name was Elder Nicolás Castañeda, and his wife spoke about the spirit bringing us joy, and he spoke about missionary work and success in missions and in life. The recipe to happiness is WORK.

Funny story: It rained so hard this week. Glad I brought an umbrella for the CCM. Sad I didn't have it when the wall of rain hit us in the middle of a field when I had my jacket on. We ran and tried to get under trees to get to our classroom, but the trees just build up pools of water and drenched us more, so there was no protection. It was literally like a movie there was so much rain.

Then a couple days later, we had rain too, and Elder Brunsdale was running to get into class, and right before getting in the doors, he took a nice slip and fell onto his side and got more wet. That little corner now is called the corner of shame. It was funny but it's sad that he fell.

The District

Scripture study/translation
Playing "Sting" or "War" where you hit a volleyball up 3 times and the 4th person can catch it and throw it at someone else.

District selfie!

Elder Leifson jumping over Hermana Sly. He really jumps high. It's crazy.

Another district casual P-Day picture! I love them all.

Packing for Peru!
