June 19, 2017 – Week 38!
This week was pretty great!
We had 6 new investigators this week. We've been able to have one lesson with each of them, and I hope that we can have more later! We've been passing by their houses lots, but sometimes time is against us, and they're always busy. We'll keep attempting!
This week, we took advantage of lunch time, and the big TV that our pensionista has, and we watched 17 Miracles and Ephraim's rescue on the TV. It's cool to watch church movies on a big screen like that! So inspirational those stories of the pioneers. It motivates me to keep up good work and to keep up my faith, so if it's necessary, I can perform miracles too!
We also had our district meeting this week. We have a new district leader! Elder Quakkenbush (idk how to spell his last name). He's from the US.
This week was also cool, because we had the opportunity to play soccer (futbol) with the ward again! We can play with them once a month. The day we went to play was on thursday, and there were so many people there, that there were 5 teams of 5. We didn't get to play as much as usual because of that, but it was still fun! I'm getting better and better each time. It's great to see Alberto there too. He's doing great, and he received the Aaronic Priesthood this past sunday! We'll be preparing him so that we can go to the temple with him in a week or two!
It's hard to explain all the little details about every new investigator we've had this week. But to sum it up, it's true: contacting really doesn bring new investigators, and sometimes it's needed to contact investigators that haven't been visited in a little while! With one of the contacts, Elder Carbajal asked if he was headed home from work, and he said yes, and so Elder Carbajal then said "How about if we go with you to your house to say a prayer and share a message?). The guy just said "Yeah vamos pe" haha just liek " yeah lets go" and so we followed him to his house. It was a house we had passed by before with some people talking outside. We alsmot contacted them before but didn't. When we entered, we were able to share a message with the man and his wife, who was one of the people outside who we almost contacted before! Sorry if that was confusing, but the story just shows that the Lord really guides us to those in need, and sometimes we end up passing by someone more than once, and on the second or third time is when we contact them. I know that we should all listen to the guidance and the whispers of the spirit. It's the only way we can receive the divine guidance God has for us.
We also had a lesson on sunday with our pensionista and her family. We talked about missionary work, and I shared the scripture D+C 31:3-5. It's a scripture that I'm sure we all can apply to more than just missionary work. It was a really spiritual night. We talked about the spirit and miracles that have happened in the mission etc. It was great.
Some funny things from this week. We were with a member family that had a collection of coins, and I saw some coins that looked kinda strange. Turned out to be a penny and a dime and a quarter. Yeah I've been away from the USA for some time now. I forgot what our coins looked like... Haha. I'm starting a little collection of Peruvian Soles. They're so artistic, and I love them! There's 30 in total in the collection. So worth it. I also found an old peruvian coin this week that says "Un sol de oro" on it. It was a coin 2 generations before those that we have now. I'm gonna try and clean it up to make it look good!
I hope you all have had a great week this week! Always share the gospel with others. Blessings will come! I know it!
con mucho amor

| We went to a restaurant last week called Don Belisario. We had coupons because we went to plaza vea and spent more than 20 soles. SO GOOD. |
pic of some of the chickens at the restaurant. I love the art there

a plane balloon. TRUNKY. Nah, I'm not going home yet.

pic with the Chevez Villaseca family. The daughter is a returned missionary who served in Brasil, and her friend (who is on the very left) is a returned missionary as well, who returned recently.
