January 29, 2018 – Week 70? Already?
This week has been a great week!
We've had a ton of new investigators this week. 15 in total. I won't have much time to explain and describe them all, but they are all different! Some are married, some aren't, some are young, some are old. There is such a variety of people in this sector. It's great! It's interesting and a good learning opportunity to be able to work with so many different people!
One of our investigators, Shioko, is still preparing for her baptism! She has a baptismal date for this saturday, and it will be a good experience! Her mom is a member, and she's been able to go to church with her for the past 2 weeks! She knows a lot about the gospel even though she's young! It's great to see even young people learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ!
We also met with a Christian and she knew TONS about the Bible. We tried teaching, but each time we talked, she talked a ton as well and didn't really give us time. I tried to use the time that she was talking to learn even more information from the Bible to be able to use with our investigators. Even as missionaries we learn from what our investigators say! Possibly doctrine, or new ways to teach, or how to get to know people even better! It's nice to know how those who aren't members of the church think and act so that we can help them in their conversion even more!
We also have been teaching another young boy named Brandon. He's a brother of a recent convert, Antonella. He's learning little by little, but with the help of his sister I know he can keep progressing towards his baptism too! I can testify of the help that us as members of the church can give to those who aren't members. This week we had 5 investigators who came to church. ALL 5 were part member families, who came to church with a brother or parent or child or other family member who was a member. We must help our friends and family members who aren't members of the church so that they can experience the great blessings that come as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! I know that this is the Church of Jesus Christ. He leads this church.
On Sunday, we were able to find 4 new investigators. One of them was a reference from a member, and he accepted a baptismal date! He's 83 years old, and his name is Melchor. I hope we can keep finding him in his house to be able to teach him more of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! He's a kind guy, and really has a love for the Savior! You can see it in his countenance. I'll have to learn to teach even more according to the needs of the investigators, because we've gotta teach simply even to the most wise!
Another investigator (Hannah, or idk how to write that in spanish) who is only about 11 years old has been reading the Book of Mormon between visits, and it seems she's read 15 chapters without even being assigned to read those chapters! Awesome! We'll be teaching her in these days. She's also a family member of Antonela.
Missionary work is the best. I am always humbled here as a missionary, learning every day how I can become better and better. I'm sure not perfect, but I just know I've gotta do my best because that's what the Lord asks of me!
I hope all of you can have great experiences with sharing the gospel as well with family members and friends! Always look for opporturnities to share the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ! It will be a great blessing and source of joy for you and for them!
Hope you all have a great week!
