April 9, 2018 – Week 80!
GREAT WEEK THIS WEEK!
To start off, we are making some progress in how we are working in our sector. We decided to visit first a family who was in the list of some "cool people", and when we called, they still remembered the missionaries and accepted a visit! So we went and visited them. The mom's name is Ruth, and she's a police. We shared the Restoration with her, and she was interested! We also shared a scripture in the Book of Mormon that she needed at that moment, and she said "everytime the missionaries come, they share what I need at the perfect time". It was great! She also came to church on Sunday and had read her Book of Mormon! She accepted a baptismal date for the 28th of April, so I hope she keeps progressing!
We also found a couple (yes, MARRIED!) named Richard and Karen. they are awesome too. They have been reading their book of mormon, and they also came to church on sunday! They both accepted baptismal dates for the 28th of April as well! It's great to see families progressing in the gospel. I hope we can keep sharing the gospel and helping them to gain a testimony that this is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth.
Next, we found a sister who had talked to the missionaries 2 years ago. Well... she found us. We were walking, and she asked if we were the Elders, and we said yes, and she told us her story, and how she was about to get baptized a couple years ago, but had an accident just before her first church attendance and lost contact with the missionaries. Now, 2 years later, she found us again. We went to her house and taught her, and she and her son both accepted baptismal dates for the 28th of April! MIRACLES! Her name is Maria, and her son is named Brad... Brad Pit... yes, Brad Pitt haha! Awesome! She was able to come to church, but her son didn't go, so we will keep working with them to hopefully have a whole family baptized and receiving blessings! Especially if they are able to get sealed in the temple later on. That would be so awesome!
My companion Elder Rios is good at joking, and made me think this week that we were having emergency transfers.... I got so nervous... But it was really just the zone leaders calling reminding us to talk to even more fathers and adult males in our contacts (I guess there have been a lot of baptisms of mothers and children, but not many fathers).
We've had to stop visiting some investigators sadly because they haven't received permission from their parents to be taught, or because they weren't progressing. It's sad when we have to leave an investigator, but we have the hope that it won't be forever! We will be going back to visit them after a time to see if they can progress again!
Brandon is also doing well! He went to church and seminary and is reading his Book of Mormon! I'm glad to see his progress! Can't wait until he can go to the temple!
And that's how we went from having 0 investigators with baptismal dates to having 5 with baptismal dates, and all in one week. NOW our job is making sure that those 5 progress, while also finding even MORE prepared sons and daughters of God who are willing to follow Christ through repentance and baptism.
Today for p day we played kickbal and a little bit of 2 hand touch football with the elders using a soccerball. It was great!
Well, that's about it for this great and spiritual uplifting week. The spirit really guides those who desire it. I can testify of that. Christ is also at the head of this church. I know that to be true.
Have a great week!
