July 16, 2018 – Week 94!
Wow, time is flying by fast and I just want to be a missionary!
Some pretty cool things happened this week, even though it wasn't the most fruitful week in terms of new investigators or investigators with baptismal dates.
First off, I decided to put a little paper on my bag this week that says "We have the answers to the questions of the soul" (referring to the questions of the soul that the Book of Mormon can answer), hhoping that someone would come up and talk to us! Well, it had more of an effect on members than it did on investigators! One guy did come up to us and ask a question about Exodus 33:20 about why does the scripture say what it says, but he was the only one who asked us a question. A member did get a picture of my bag, and then 2 days after, the WHOLE ward was talking about it. I had no idea it was put on social media, but it kinda started a missionary work revolution in the ward! The bishop got excited to work more with the missionaries, and some leaders wanted to start doing more things to share the gospel. It was awesome! I had no idea that one little paper could have so many shares and effects. It just shows that we should ALWAYS be creative and try new things, because we have no idea how many people we can inspire or help or support! I know that the Spirit guides us to do things that are sometimes not normal or kinda embarrassing, but that really can try good results! If it is good, it is of God!
This week we were able to do more intercambios again. I went with Elder Montes to Rimac, and I was able to climb up stairs again!
oh how I love the hills here. Stairs are my favorite. We also lifted up a chest of drawers up a couple flights of stairs and then to a 3rd floor! I was tired but it was awesome! We kept working afterwards! There's always a way to help with service in the cerro! We worked and hada few lessons, and I was able to learn more from the teaching of Elder Montes! Even leaders can learn from the missionaries they serve!
We also had some intercambios with the zone leaders, but we jsut contacted for most of the time. It was a good practice of patience and perserverence to keep trying to find those who are prepared to hear the gospel! I love working with the zone leaders. I learn so much from them and from their example!
This week I was able to feel my testimony grow as well. It's just a feeling that can't be explained. I was kinda struggling in the week for lack of investigators and also for a couple people we taught who had a lack of faith, which was hard to teach to and help find the solutions to their difficulties. We later did one service for the son of a member, and as we did so, he asked "so who is Joseph Smith?" and then we taught him and his family about the restoration, and it was a great experience! I felt strengthened again and I felt a desire to kleep teaching families. It really is a goal to teach families here, because helping unite families with the gospel is just a great feeling and great experience!
This week we also got to know our mission president and his wife too! President and Sister Strong are just the best! They work so personally with the misisonaries right now, and they are just so full of love! We had interviews just to get to know each other, and I learned that President Strong is a big Apple Computer fan! :P He also told me some experiences from his mission in response to a question I had concerning how to work more efficiently in our sector. He is so awesome! I feel that with them, miracles will be happening in the mission! They live in Utah, and their son also has his msision call to Lima South! Close to our mission here!
Well, that's about it for this week! We're excited to work with the members even more and to help them have spiritual experiences in the work of the Lord! I know that this week will be full of miracles! There's not much time left to work, so I'll be working as hard as I can to bring more souls unto Christ! I know that this is His true church, and I know that He leads it. I feel so blessed to be His representative here in Peru in Ingenieria in this moment! I hope to bless many children of God in my time here.
Hope you all have a great week!
