November 15, 2016 Hello Peru!

I'm here! I don't have much time to email this week, but I will hopefully get more later. Peru is crazy, and I don't know much about what is happening, but it will be alright. I thought I knew some spanish, but coming here made me realize I have much to learn. I'll be relying on the spirit a lot here. I'll definitely have to get used to the eating schedule, since the lunch here is bigger than dinner, so I won't be eating dinner for a while until later tonight.

The last few days in the CCM were full of prep and good deviontionals. There were some tears as we all parted ways. Our district was great.

The plane ride wasn't terrible but not perfect. We left at midnight and got here at 6 AM, so it was a long night. Glad they fed us pasta (or chicken), a small salad, and some pudding. The one thing I didn't have much of last night and this morning was water. I had to empty my bottles for the flight and there wasn't really a place to refill them that I could see. Oh well, I'm alive. I didn't get too motion sick.

Now more Peru info.

Our apartment is on the 4th floor of a building, so getting my suitcases up was a pain, but that's ok. It's pretty nice. We have a small fridge and a microwave, but no stove, so just a heating metal pad. Apparently we do get fed lunch each day (aside from Monday) by a member or a pensionista, so that'll be nice. Also wash is done by the pensionista.

I saw Elder Hunt (Curtis) today! It was cool. I'm not in the same district (or zone) with him or anyone else I know (at least I think I'm not), but that isn't too big of a worry.

My companion's name is Elder De Arce, and he doesn't speak much english, which means I'll be learning Spanish much faster I hope.

It really is humid here compared to Utah. Wearing my suit jacket most of the day was hardest. Its now only 6:30 and I'm still hot. It's about summer here, so it'll be warm.

Cool things: There are some chain restaurants here. 2 KFCs and 2 Pizza Hut's in our area, although those and McDonalds are more expensive here, so we won't go there much if at all.

I hope I can hear from you all while I'm here! It's gonna be a crazy new adventure!

Con mucho amor,

Elder Bruner
