April 10, 2017 - Week 28

This week was awesome! I don't have tons of time to write, but as always I'll try and fit in as much as I can!

This week started out pretty awesome. Sadly we didn't get to go to the Huaca like we wanted, because it was only open Wednesday to Sunday, but I still got some pics from the outside!

That same day, we went and searched for a reference given to us from a Sister in another ward. We found them, and it was a family of 3! Mom, Dad, and Daughter. They really are awesome, and even though we haven't had a 2nd lesson yet, the first lesson went great, and I know that the gospel really can be a blessing in their lives! We almost didn't get in when we knocked their apartment door, but gladly we knew their last name haha (which is what they wondered if we knew), so they talked to us a little more and let us in! Such a great family!

We also had another lesson with Hermano Leo this week. He's been reading the Book of Mormon and has lots of questions! I really hope he can feel that he's received an answer from the Spirit, because he's said before that he's felt good when he thinks about what we're sharing!

We had kind of an interesting lesson yesterday. Someone started talking to us in the street, asking questions like normal, and then invited us into his house. We went in, and he offered us beer first (which we rejected), and then offered us Coca Cola (which we accepted). He (65 yrs old) introduced us to himself (he was a former Marine) his mom who was 95 yrs old, and then had his 20 yr old son start taking photos of us with him and his mom. Interesting but cool! Then he started drinking beer, which made the conversation a bit hard, but we also got some questions from the 20 year old son, which were good questions! I feel like the son really has potential to learn more! He asked us why we didn't drink, and also about the Priesthood, and other questions that would be normal from someone who doesn';t know much about the church initially. He understood each of our answers, and I hope we can return and teach more!

Later this week, nothing big happened. Because of Easter, we are contacting 25 people every day. At the start of the week it was a bit difficult, but after a reminder from the Zone Leaders that it was the work of the Savior, it really helped us, and we got the 25 contacts each day for the last 2 days of the week! We'll be continuing that from now on I'm pretty sure., 25 contacts per day.

Today was a great P day. We went to A plaza in Callao (La Punta), and I forgot the name of the plaza, but its in my pics ill send. It was an old plaza where there were lots of cannons and tanks and it was used for war. It's right by the beach too. Really cool place, and really cool history behind it all!

I know that going on a mission was the best decision I've made so far in my life, and it really has brought blessings. I love helping others and serving every day! Some days the time goes by faster than others, and I know that by the end of my mission, I'll be wanting to stay for even more time. Peru is awesome. I know I was sent here for a reason. It really is the best mission in the world! (and possibly the smallest area wise too, haha) I know my Savior lives, and I know he has so much love for all of us. I know God is our Heavenly Father. Pray often. Read the scriptures. Go to church. These 3 simple things will bless your lives, as they have blessed mine.

I hope you all have had a great week, and will have a great week this week!

Con mucho amor,
Elder Bruner
