April 3, 2017 – Week 27!
First thing's first. Conference was AWESOME! So many great talks, and I wish I could spend time talking about them all, but I don't have time.
Second thing. I keep seeing posters here that say that Justin Bieber and Linkin Park and Ed Sheeran are coming here to Peru soon. I won't be close, but I didn't know they were popular here!
Tomorrow I'll be a sister missionary – meaning I've been out 6 months already! (I have 18 months left, as much as sister missionaries have on their missions.)
Last Monday for P day we went to the Center of Lima for P day, and I saw some elders that told me that Elder de Arce is now their Zone Leader in the Rimac zone! Crazy. He was my trainer and district leader at the time when he was my companion.
We visited a great investigator named Leo this week. He is really interested in our lessons, because he reads the Bible lots, and said that the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith were really new to him, but he said he wanted to pray and ask God to see if these things are true, because he's really interested! I hope he has time between his new work schedules to come to church this Sunday! He's awesome, and has a really good spirit! I feel like he'll progress well as he keeps reading and praying and coming to church!
We had a training meeting this week with President, where we learned of the new initiative about the #PrincipeDePaz #PrinceofPeace on mormon.org. I invite all of you to go and visit that site, and share it with your friends and family, because it really is a great message about how we can learn more principles of Peace from the Prince of Peace, who is Jesus Christ, We watched the video early, and got new contacting cards as well that we are now using!
We had a contacting activity in our sector this week, so as a result, we received LOTS of contact references from the other missionaries that came to our sector to contact, and we have lots of new people to go visit this week! I know that we'll find some really prepared individuals and families as we make an effort to talk to everyone!
On Saturday morning, I followed the little tradition we had in our home, and I made French Toast!!! (I love Teflon pans. I'm so glad this sector has them in our home. I'ma go crazy with good foods here) Then we went to our chapel. It's the 1st year our ward is broadcasting conference too for those who want to come and watch it, and I'm glad everything worked out well! I got to see conference in English thanks to our ward mission leader who left his computer with the ward as he left on vacation so that we could use it to broadcast conference in English for me!
All the messages from conference were amazing. Both on Saturday and on Sunday. Although we didn't have any investigators come to conference with us, I know we'll be using the talks online to help with lessons later on! There are some great ones, and I encourage you all to share them with those who may be interested in the church, or who are passing though hard times, or really anyone, because the words of prophets and apostles can help anyone!
I hope you all have had a great week. I testify that the words of the prophets and apostles can be answers to our questions, and can bring peace into our lives when we are looking for it. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God, and that he leads the true church of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus lives, and I know that we must do the basic things, such as reading the scriptures, going to church, and praying, in order to receive answers to our questions, and to receive the most grand blessings that God has prepared for us. Lots of blessings come when we ask for them. We all will pass though hard times in our lives. This sometimes is something we can't control. I do know, however, that as we pray and apply the saving power of Jesus Christ and his atonement to our lives, we can always overcome those trials we face. We can find hope and joy in the messages that this gospel shares with us. We can find peace in the teachings of the Prince of Peace himself, Jesus Christ.
I love teaching the people here in Peru, and I invite you to be member missionaries wherever you are right now. Share the gospel. Share the joy you have with others. Share the blessings! Have family home evening. Go to church. Watch conference. The list goes on and on.
As you do this, your joy will increase as well. I know it.
I hope you've all had a great week, and I hope you all have a great week this week!
