July 10, 2017 – Week 41!
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! In a taxi I heard that people here even talk about independence day! They recognize it as a special day for the US.
This week was pretty good! Lots of meetings and time out of our sector but still good!
On Tuesday we went to go to the Clinic to be with an Elder that was there. We went in the morning and stayed until the night time. They didn't have a DVD player there, so we read scriptures, and watched the same mormon messages on a USB like 2 times each haha. I had lots of time to draw!
Then on Wednesday we had multi-zone conferences! They are always good. Elder Carbajal shared his testimony since this was his last transfer. There were about 4 or 5 misisonaries leaving this transfer from the 2 zones there. Elder de Arce too (different zone). My trainer is leaving! AAgh. Elder de Arce was cool. We learned lots in the multi zone conferences, and I definitely learned things to help me become a better missionary! I got the Brookwood pic I wanted with me, Elder Anderson, and Elder Hunt!
Then on Thursday we had District meeting. It went well too! We talked a lot about our investigators. LOTS. Lots of plans and goals and things we can do to help them progress. After district meeting, we had intercambios with the district leader. I went with Elder Muñoz to his sector in Breña for the day. We had 3 lessons, and invited all of them to be baptized, and they all accepted! They have some great investigaotrs in their sector. People who really are progressing and have a strong desire to get baptized and obey ALL the commandments without doubts! It was a cool intercambio. Also at night, we went to get Pollo Broaster (free). Why was it free? Because a member owned the shop and they always gave the missionaries free chicken. Chicken leg and french fries. SO GOOD! I bought an Inka Cola to go along with it. Elder Muñoz is awesome. His laugh is funny too. His laugh makes other people laugh, and then everyone laughs.
Friday after weekly planning we had a contacting activity. We always split up companions, and I went with Elder Jordan. We contacted like 25 people in an hour and had a lesson and invited the person to baptism and he accepted! Oh the things you can do in an hour are awesome if you really put your mind to it and are guided by the spirit! After the activity we had a normal day of proselyting.
Saturday was normal too. Lots of time to work. Time sufficient to get the 20 daily contacts too! Later in the night, we visited the bishop. I'm pretty sure it was the first time in a while that the misisonaries have visited the bishop. It was a great visit though! He and all of his family was there! (Him and his wife and 3 daughters). We shared a message from the First Presidency's message in the Liahona. I knew it was the message to share with him. I had studied it in the morning, planning to share it with him, and after he told us about his week and we talked more, I knew it was the right thing to share! Awesome how the spirit works like that. Awesome. We also visited the Gonzales family that night. Members new in the ward. They cooked us some food. Spaghetti with a Tuna fish sauce. Like the normal red sauce but it was orange with tuna fish! SO GOOD! They are some of the only people that cook noodles and put butter and milk with them to make them a bit smoother and less dry. I ate a plate so fast it was crazy. Their house makes me trunky haha. Nah. We watched a little video that had come out when the dad was on his mission. I think we'll be using to too! (Fortaleziendo a la familia).
Sunday was also great! We went to church, and had one investigator there. I guess she had been going to church for a while too, but wasn't baptized! We'll be visiting her this week if possible! Sunday was the day of contacting drunks haha. There were like 3 that we contacted, or who contacted us. One spoke english and wanted to practice with me. He wasn't too out of his mind, so we talked! Cool guy. We then visited the Marayahua family in the night time. Good visit as always! They asked me lots about learning a new language.
Today for P day we played sports as a zone and then went to eat as a zone in 3 continentes. Great restaurant! Good day! Then we shopped and rushed home to write.
Well this week has been great and spiritual. I hope next week will be even better! Hope you all are doing well!
