July 31, 2017 – Week 44!
This week has been great! To start it all off, I'M TRAINING A NEW MISSIONARY! It's of course a little tiring and difficult, but it's an amazing learning experience and I know it will help me grow as a missionary too!
We left for the offices for the meeting with the new missionaries on Tuesday in the morning. We had to be there early because Elder Carbajal was finishing his mission, and he had to bring all his stuff there and weigh bags and get ready to go to the temple. I then waited for about 5 hours, and studied and talked, and then we finally went into the room and met up with the new missionaries for lunch. We ate and all talked, and it reminded me of my first day so much! We ate pulled pork sandwiches. Yes, pork, something we can't have in the mission. So it was a great day! Then the time came, and President gave the assignments of who will be training who. I got... Elder Morales! He's from Val Paraiso in Chile. 18 years old. He's awesome! He was the one talking most during lunch, and he has a great desire to work and he's excited too! He likes photography, and of course that was a common interest between us, so we got talking about that later in the week. He's awesome!
Wednesday was a good work day too! It started out with coldshowers though. Welcome to the mission Elder Morales! Haha. We found a new investigator as he was dancing outside later that day. He likes to dance Shuffle, and he's pretty awesome! He doesn't have much faith in God, but we'll be visiting him to help with that! I feel like he can progress lots as we teach by the spirit! We only had one lesson, but had a bunch of contacts!
The rest of the week was mostly spent contacting. Didn't have many lessons with investigators, but we did pass by the houses of some members to ask for references, and we may have some new people to teach because of it! Visiting members is always great, and it's a good way to find new people to teach as well!
By the end of the week, we had 113 contacts. Not too many new investigators, but we're working on that! I know that as we keep working hard and trying new things, we can find those that will be willing to listen to us!
It's always an interesting experience talking with drunks haha. They won't do anything bad to us, but they always talk and ask the most interesting questions. We listen, give them an answer, and then leave before we say something that may make them angry haha. This week was Fiestas Patrias too, so there was lots of drinking.
The ward also had a party for Fiestas Patrias, and it was great! We passed by for the food and to see if any of the investigators were there that we invited! they had some great food! It would've been cool to try more of the desserts, but we had no time. Gotta get back to the work of the Lord!
I know that as we work and show our full effort to the Lord, he will bless us and help us find those that are willing to hear the message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ! This is the work of the Lord, and I love being a part of it!
I hope you all have a great week this week!
