February 26, 2018 – Week 74!
Wow. New transfer already? New companion already? Yep. My new companion here in Caja de Agua is Elder Rios from Santa Cruz, Bolivia! He's awesome! He's my 4th companion in a row from Bolivia! I think there's something that President sees in me knowing that I have to be with Bolivians or something haha.
This week ahs been pretty good! Tiring though. There is so much sun right now that it's hot every day!
Last Monday we had a great Family Home Evening. Our ward mission leader practically explained all of the 1st 3 missionary lessons (The Restoration, The Plan of Salvation, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ) in about 30 minutes! It was cool! He knew how to teach it simply but completely!
Transfers were on Tuesday. On the night before transfers, a cockroach entered our bedroom right as we were trying to go to bed. We didn't want it to stay, so we got up and tried to get rid of it. It was a big fast little bugger, so it took a bit to find it. Gladly we got it trapped and got it out of the room and disposed of it well! We slept fine after that haha. I received Elder Rios that next day. I realized that my SD card was missing, but thankfully my other companion has it in his new sector!
We've been teaching Dana and Brandon more this week too. Dana is still preparing well for her baptism, which now is planned for the 10th of March because she wasn't able to attend church this past week for an exam that she had in school. Crazy taht the exams here are almost always on Sunday. I'm glad that as a member of the Church, I know that the Sabbath Day is a holy day, and that it's a bit easier to not have those things on Sunday like others do! Brandon also wasn't able to go to church this past week. We're working with him to help him find a friend in the church too so he can feel more comfortable and excited/willing to go to church. As we taught Brandon, two visiting teachers from our ward who had misisonary ages (and one was waiting for her call) also were there in the house of Brandon. They both shared a bit at the end of the lesson and the spirit was so strong. We lack sister misisonaries here in Caja de Agua, but I don't think that we'll be able to have them here for a while because of how the sector is. Recently President Larson put sister missionaries in the zone after a long time of only Elders here.
We also have been teaching the sister and cousin of Orlando, who is a recent convert. I'll update more on them as they progress! But many part-member families here are helping us find new investigators! It's great to work with members!
Our new district leader Elder Jarvis is cool too. He's from my group. He's excited to work and he's always happy! That's good!
We also taught a family who had a flat screen TV of like 72 inches. It was the biggest TV I've ever seen in my life. Crazy TVs here!
We've gone up and down the hill this week so much that our legs are tired, but it's helping us become stronger! Just like we need physical strength, we also need spiritual strength. We must always read the scriptures (daily), and also pray (daily), and go to church (weekly), and keep doing other things that will strengthen our spirits so that we can have power against all temptation! I know that this is true and that spiritual strength is real. Temptation is real, but spiritual power to overcome temptation is real too!
Well, that's about it for this week! Not too much else happened.
Hope you all have a great week!
