December 4, 2017 – Week 62!
This week has been really great! We are fully in the Christmas season now! Even though here it is summer, it is still a great time of year!
This week we had transfers, and my new companion is Elder Nogales, from Bolivia. He's awesome! The next transfers are in January, so I'll be staying here in my sector for Christmas and New Year! I'm hoping we get to see the fireworks from the top of the cerro this year. It would be so cool! (also, Elder Barrios went to my last sector, Las Brisas in Magdalena. Swip Swap there haha)
Elder Anderson and I (the 2 district leaders here in Condevilla) went to a training meeting this week for all district leaders. It really was great and spiritually uplifting and eye-opening. What I learned is that we should always do service for others. Hermana Larson showed a video of refugees, and what the church is doing to help them out. Christmas time is for helping others, and service is a great way to be more like the Savior as well!
On the 1st of December, we did service as a zone, and we painted seats in a park and also yellow lines on sidewalks. We also helped clean the park a bit. It was a great service! Even though I burnt because of the forgotten sunscreen, I loved serving others! I loved painting there as well. Using talents to serve others is the best way to use talents! Every day we are trying to do some type of service for others as well because of the #LightTheWorld initiative that the Church started. For example, one day some drunk people were talking to us, and they after the conversation, they bought us small bottles of water because they knew we didn't drink. I'm thinking of finding someone in need of water (Like the 2nd day of the initiative says), and donating that bottle to them It's nothing big, but the small acts of service can lead to greater ones!
This week during a family home evening, we were sharing the initiative with a family, and just at the time, the lights went out. We could all notice that in that moment, light was needed. It's just like in our lives. Sometimes as we make bad decisions, the light isn't as bright to guide us. As we repent and make better decisions, we can partake of the light of Christ, and become better, and then share our light with others! We can be the light of the world, just like Christ!
This Saturday one of our investigators, Mayri, will be getting baptized! She's been through lots of preparation, and she's ready to open the door to many blessings! The goepsl of Jesus Christ helps so many people, and the small step of being baptized really opens up the door to a life of progression, blessings, and joy. I know that to be true!
The 1st Presidency Christmas Devotional yesterday was so great too. 3 messages, but they all were so powerful and spiritual, explaining about the true spirit of Christmas. If you haven't watched it, I invite you to go to lds.org and watch it now!
I hope you all have a great Christmas season and a great week!
With much love,
Elder Bruner
