May 29, 2017 – Week 35! – Baptism!

BAPTISM! We had a baptism this week! We were able to baptize Alberto. He is doing great, and was happy about the whole event. His friend was able to come, and even though we had to change church buildings for the baptism (because ours didn't have water), we were able to have a few people from our ward come as well! I was the one to confirm him in the sacrament meeting on Sunday. It was my first time performing a confirmation, but it was good!

This week I used my blender a lot. Yes, I bought a mini blender. It is so nice to make little fruit juices or smoothies! I tried a new fruit called Aguaymanto, and made a juice with it too! It's like the size of a grape but yellow. It has an interesting flavor, but it's good! Kind of acidic.

This week was kind of difficult, because we had to end teaching some of our investigators that seemed really cool and interested. It's better though for now not to make contention in any family, so we'll just wait a little time and then return to see if later is their time to learn! I know that we aren't leaving them forever. They'll have their time just like everyone to learn the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

We had intercambios this week too. I was with Elder Sanchez in our sector. We had so little time to work that day because we had to walk to another sector to have  a baptismal interview, and we also had mission correlation meeting, and more. It was good working with him though! For the little time we had, we contacted as much as we could and visited a couple apartments in the maze of Palomino.

Saturday was the most interesting day. A bit complicated too, but good! In the morning, we went to fill the baptismal font, but had no water, so we just prepared the room in hopes that water would return in the afternoon. Then we went to lunch and returned, but the water didn't. So we were trying to think of other solutions, and heard that the other ward in Bolivar was having a baptism today, so we asked if they cold keep their baptismal font full and wait for us in the night time. It was ok with them. Later we had a ward mission activity, but just to be safe, we found a faucet outside of the church that still had water, and we started filling our baptismal font by hand, just because of some complications. So in the end, we did end up going to the other ward, and had the baptism at 9 pm, and it went well!

Sunday was great too. We confirmed Alberto, and then had a great lunch later with the Arce-Sanchez family. They had lots of art in their home. Nice home too. Then later in the day we had a lesson with the Marayahua family! They are all awesome. We changed the topic last minute for the lesson, which ended up being a good decision! In the end, everyone was happy and it was a good family lesson. I learned from the lesson too!

I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone, and I love teaching it to others and seeing the wonderful blessings it brings!

I hope you all have a great week!

  1. You are doing great work! How long would it take to fill a baptismal font by hand. Wow, I'm glad you didn't have to.
